Environmental Policy

MacBackpackers are committed to sustainable tourism and minimising our impact on the environment. We strive for continuous improvement in this area and review our policies regularly.

Our vehicles are serviced regularly to ensure they are running at their optimum for best fuel economy and minimising exhaust emissions. Within our hostels and our offices we look to minimise all waste and look to recycle wherever possible. We strive to make the most efficient use of water and minimise our energy consumption.

MacBackpackers currently owns 75 hectares of woodland in the heart of the Scottish Highlands which is to be re-planted with indigenous Scottish species. We are working very closely with Trees 4 Scotland / The Big Tree Project who have the aim of planting ONE MILLION TREES over the next 5 years.
