Castle Rock Hostel – Edinburgh
With almost 300 beds and the most spectacular location in Edinburgh, it’s no wonder Castle Rock has won many awards such as Best Hostel in Scotland, Best Hostel in Europe , Best Large Hostel and Most Popular Hostel in the 2025 Hoscar Awards. Facilities
Castle Rock Hostel is a huge building with 4 different lounges, a huge well equipped kitchen, a cinema, 24 hour reception, affordable breakfast, a laundry service, luggage storage and great WiFi. You’ll also get discounts on nearby bars/restaurants, great recommendations and the chance to join in on the 7 days of events held each week!
Rooms
Castle Rock is a 5 story building with a plethora of different room types for you to choose from. They have private rooms that look out onto the Castle as well as rooms themed after Harry Potter, Scottish Football and even different garments of underwear. Each room has its own zany design and feel, with plenty of space to store your belongings. All beds come with a locker key to keep your belongings safe as well as USB wall chargers in case you forget your adaptor. All rooms only have shared bathrooms, but these are kept clean by the attentive staff with shifts throughout the day.
Events
Whether you’re a party animal or love a hike, there’s so many events on each week at Castle Rock that you’ll never be bored. From the famous Thursday night Pub Crawl to the Spandex Comedy night on a Tuesday; you won’t run out of things to do while staying at The Rock. Join in and meet some fellow travellers!
