Right on the banks of Loch Ness and with 50 beds, Lochside Hostel is the newest addition to the Scotland’s Top Hostels group and our base for 2 of our 3 tours. Open for just 8 months of the year, make sure you grab yourself a bed here to have the most authentic Scottish Highlands Hostel experience.
Facilities
Lochside Hostel was taken over by Scotland’s Top Hostels back in 2017 after the YHA decided to sell the old Loch Ness Youth Hostel on the A82 between Inverness and Fort William. This beautiful old building needed some work and has now become a bustling, thriving backpackers hostel with a huge lounge; on-site bar, sunny patio, private beach, laundry facilities, huge kitchen and warm fireplace.
It’s a perfect cosy escape from the city and gives you the chance to swim with Nessie and drink whisky on the banks of Scotland’s most (in) famous Loch.
Rooms
Lochside Hostel takes full advantage of its position on Loch Ness with most of the rooms facing the waters of the famous loch. With 50 beds, inlcuding their new ensuite 6 bed dorms near the water, there’s plenty of space for people from all walks of life at Lochside.
As part of our 3 Day Loch Ness & Skye Magic Tour and our 5 Day Skye & Highland Fling Tour, you’ll get beds reserved here for the first night of your tour so you can experience a night on Loch Ness and everything Lochside has to offer!
Events
A stay at Lochside is full of things to do to keep you entertained during your time on the Loch. Dust off your hiking boots to complete the Altsigh Triangle Hike for fantastic views down the glen, grab yourself some drinks for a night around the bonfire on Loch Ness, join the weekly Ceilidh or bring along something to swim in so you can have a dip with Nessie.
