Facilities
Oban Backpackers is a fully equipped backpackers hostel in the “Gateway to the Isles”, Oban.
On our final night of the 5 Day Tour we are lucky enough to call this place home. The hostel has a full kitchen, funky lounge, great beds and warm showers for everyone to relax into after your day exploring the Highlands.
On our night in Oban there’s the chance to go to a traditonal Ceilidh, so make sure to pack your dancing shoes!
The town
Oban was started as a town to house the staff of the Oban Distillery, and while the town has grown significantly there’s still a focus on this town centre distillery and traditons of the area.
Built with direct ferry access to a host of islands nearby, the town is lovingly known as The Gateway to the Isles and has great seafood restaurants; fantastic bars and some of the best sunsets in Scotland. Make sure to check out McCaigs Tower for the best views over the town towards the Isle of Mull and beyond.
